Routine Citrus Juice Analyses Using Hplc with Amperometric Detection
نویسنده
چکیده
Analytical methods useful for routine applications are ideally low-cost, simple to perform, and yield rapid results which are easy to interpret. Chroma tog raphic methods, par ticularly of complex samples such as fruit juice, are often difficult, can be expensive and time-consuming, and may yield results devoid of interpretation. With the proper choice of detector, the chromatographic analysis of even the most difficult samples can often be simplified. During the past dec ade, there has been a rapid increase in the use of elec trochemical (EC) detection methods in high-performance liq uid chromatography (HPLC). The sudden popularity is due to the detector's extreme sensitivity, selectivity, and compatibil ity with reversed-phase and ion-exchange separations. Three HPLC/EC methods were developed and/or adapted for routine analysis of vitamin C, folic acid, sugars and sugar alcohols in citrus juice. Analysis time for each method was under 10 mi nutes. Analytical results for some fresh citrus juices are pre sented, along with statistical considerations.

Identification of Phenolic Contents in Malaysian Variety of Pummelo (Citrus Grandis L. Osbeck) Fruit Juice Using HPLC-DAD
Pummelo is known to be the largest of all citrus fruits, with expected ratio of 2:1 (w/v) of producing juice, is an attractive opportunity for Malaysia to expand pummelo’s influence and marketability over the international market of juices. The purpose of this study is to identify and quantify the phenolic compounds in two Malaysian varieties of pummelo fruit juice: Ledang (PO55) and Tambun (PO...
متن کاملDETERMINATION OF AMOXYCYLLIN AND CLAVULANIC ACID IN PHARMACEUTICAL DOSAGE FORMS BY HPLC WITH AMPEROMETRIC DETECTION
A simple and sensitive high performance liquid chromatographic method with electrochemical detection is described for the quantitative determination of the amoxycillin and clavulanic acid in pharmaceutical dosage forms. Separation of sample components occurs on a reversed phase C18 column with a mobile phase consisting of methanol-water-phosphate buffer. For the amperometric detection, the pote...

with amperometric detection. It has been shown elsewhere that the selectivity of this method is sufficient to separate the potential organic impurities; that is, synthesis byproducts and a specified degradation product from the drug substance (3). The objective of this article is to demonstrate that this method’s suitability for stability testing can be evaluated easily by performing HPLC with ...
متن کاملCharacterization of Bioactive Compounds in Tunisian Bitter Orange (Citrus aurantium L.) Peel and Juice and Determination of Their Antioxidant Activities
Citrus aurantium peel and juice aroma compounds were investigated by gas chromatography (GC) and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS), whereas phenolic compounds analysis was performed by reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC). Limonene was the major volatile compound of bitter orange peel (90.25%) and juice (91.61%). HPLC analysis of bitter orange peel and juic...
متن کاملThe Effect of Rootstocks on the Sugars, Acids, Carotenoids, Chlorophylls and Ethylene of Clementine Mandarin (Citrus clementina)
Investigations have demonstrated that ratio of sugars to organic acids affects the particular taste of citrus fruit and carotenoids are essential for prevent of the disease. It seems that some rootstocks enhance the ripening of fruits and stimulatethe biosynthesis of sugars and carotenoids. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of rootstocks on sugars, organic acids andcarotenoids o...
